Sogut, a small village just an hour from Marmaris and 7 km from Bozburun is located on the edge of the Aegean Coast just before it merges into the Mediterranean.

Kizilyer Sogut - Various tracks lead down the hill from Yesil Ev to the coast where you can swim, take a boat trip or eat in a choice of restaurants including the Octopus which specialises in fish, The Captains Table a small family-run restaurant and Küçük Ev which specialises in Turkish Pide. Seranda is the next bay to Kizilyer. Here you will find several beachfront restaurants including the Deniz Kizi (Mermaid) where the food is excellent and uncompromising Turkish with a strong emphasis on mezes and fresh local fish.

The village centre is based around a single street with a handful of shops including a butcher, fishmonger, pharmacist and general stores as well as the mosque and local lokantas. There is also a market every Monday.

The Bozburun Peninsula is an amazingly untouched place, despite its proximity to tourist hub Marmaris. It is dotted with coves and harbours that are only accessible by boat, has a variety of sightseeing options accessible by the local bus, and is a hikers’ paradise with around 150km of marked routes.

Fudulük is situated about a third away along the Loryma peninsula, so quite close to Sögüt but outside the shelter of the bay which is protected by Sögüt island. Consequently, the sea is a few degrees colder. Here you can swim and snorkel, or explore the roman cistern and the ruins of ancient stone farmhouses on the surrounding hills.

Serçe, at the far end of the peninsular, is reached via a gated road, passing through the field of a hundred wells, and many Byzantine ruins, which continue up in the mountains, before bypassing the ruins of old Tasclica and coming out in Serçe. Old Tasclica was once a thriving Greek village but was completely deserted around 1923 as a result of the Turkish war of independence when the Greek inhabitants living there, along with a vast number of Greeks living throughout Turkey, were deported to Greece through a massive government mandate.

Bozburun successfully combines a small Turkish working fisherman village with a tourist town. Extravagant sailing yachts and traditional gullets are moored next to modest fishing boats all around the harbour and along the seafront. In addition to small supermarkets and local grocery stores, the shops include quirky antique and souvenir shops, boutiques selling loose cotton dresses and Turkish trousers mixed in with the local butcher shops, ironmongers, tailors and barbers. The many restaurants and single cake shop situated along the seafront welcome locals and tourists alike.

Bayır Köyü is a small village in the centre of the Bozburun Peninsula and a tourist hub. The Mosque and small shops surround the main square and the 200-year-old plane tree is where you can order tea.

Turunç - Once a small fishing village, this town now attracts a substantial number of tourists during the summer. In addition to the sandy beach with its backdrop of small restaurants and ice cream parlours, the main street includes tourist shops, more restaurants, and wonderful cake shops.

The ruins of Amos are situated on the top of a hill and reached by a well-maintained, stepped path that passes the remains of the vast stone city walls, 1.8 meters thick, to reach the small theatre.

Selale, located between the villages of Bayir and Turgut, is made up of numerous small waterfalls and pools and you can walk by the side of the tumbling waters, surrounded by lush green trees, all the way to the source which is also the home of the Shield Butterfly.

Carian Trail - markers were completed in 2013, but the roots of the trail go back many centuries with some stone and marble paths laid by Alexander the Great. The trail is divided into five sections: the Datça Peninsula, the Gulf of Gokova, the Carian Hinterland, and the Muğla Environs. The last, which is local to Sogut, starts at the Bozburun Peninsula and connects with the architectural ruins of Hydas, near Selimiye with Bozukkale at the end of the peninsula and Amos near Turunç.
