Sogut Yachts
Snorkelling
Hellenic ruins

It is quite possible to spend a week in Sogut doing nothing but eating, drinking, swimming and sleeping.

The all time favourite day out is taking the boat to swim and snorkel in deserted bays around the coast, which we will do two or three times including an an evening trip by boat to enjoy a lazy meal and return by starlight to appreciate the phosphorescence in the water.

As well as Mediterranean sea life, beneath the calm and crystal clear waters of the bay snorkellers can catch glimpses of hundreds of fragments of amphorae over 2000 years old, from ships and storehouses serving the now ruined Hellenic cities in the hills above.

Walking in early or late season is very popular and at all times it is possible to explore the ruins and ancient trackways of the hills, or meander from bay to headland along the rocky paths of the goatherd and donkey.

The covered bazaar and international yacht marina of Marmaris have to be experienced at least once, and there can be excursions to the nearby waterfalls and carpet weavers co-operative, or further afield to the turtle beach and Lycian tombs at Dalyan, Cleopatra’s Island, or even as far as Ephesus.
